Welcome - Tawa Techies

Hi guys

Its great that you have volunteered to be part of this group. Thanks to all who have turned up to help supervise C13 over lunchtimes. I'm sure the Y9 students appreciate having another area to hang out in and continue with their ICT work.

You guys can basically drive this group and suggest projects that you would like to work on. I'm sure many could be incorporated into your Y12 course as projects. Brendan is currently working on developing a Wiki system for the school and some of the Year 11 girls are designing posters for the up and coming Polyfest. I'm sure once word gets around about how skilled your guys are the teachers will be queuing up for your help! The next big project will be developing a Tawa College Student Website. See the separate posting for more details.

Tawa College Student Website

We would like to start working on this project next term with the main aim being to develop a look and feel to the website. (Lots of graphics work here - Photoshop experts needed!!!) We would need to plan and develop a homepage so I need your suggestions on menu layouts and what pages we link to e.g. Sports Clubs, Cultural etc. Please reply to this post with your ideas and whether you would be keen to help out.

CC4G - Computer Club for girls

Girls can sometimes get a little put off by ICT seeing it as a bit "nerdy". I think it would be a good idea to have one of the Computer Club days dedicated to girls and offer some female orientated activities. Mrs Mansell has talked to a few of you about becoming involved. Please respond to this post to let me know if you are keen to help out.

When I was in the UK we ran a computer club for girls. Some of the activities we activites we did were making a nail art database, magazine covers and videoing a celebrity interview. If you have any other ideas I'd love to hear them.
